Game: Canabalt

Canabalt is an endless running game. It is easy to play — players only need to control one key to skip obstacles and jump over gaps. The narratives happens under a background of a city that looks depressing. The runners are escaping from what is behind him and jumping between skyline buildings. The whole vibe of this game feels stressed. The bgm also reflects on the stressing theme of the game. Players have to be focus and react fast to be able to catch up the rapid speed. https://www.kongregate.com/games/AdamAtomic/canabalt

I played another running game called Song of Legends. It has the same techniques and mechanics as Canabalt. Players also have to use one key to make the character jump over obstacles. The difference between this two games is that in Song of Legends, players also need to attack the obstacles and reach the awards. These two games also have completely different narratives. Songs of Legends is like a magical land the colors it used is vivid. Characters are cute too. https://itch.io/queue/c/856270/artcs108-spring2020?game_id=647430

Game: Jurassic Heart

I also played a dating sim game called Jurassic Heart. I like this game because the dialogues are very sweet and encouraging. However, the experience of playing is a bit boring. Players just chose from different replies to continue the conversation. The narrative of this game is making friend with a dinosaur and encouraging him to perform on the stage. I got very lucky ending this game with a happy story. The game allows people to live in a fantasy world and learn how to interact with others. I still felt great when I was able to comfort dinosaur in this game. http://hima.gptouch.com/games/jurassic_heart/

I watched my lab partner playing the game A Dance of Fire and Ice. We have to click on the beats in order to make the ball move. It is definitely more fun to play it myself than watching other play. I felt when I play it myself, it is easier to understand the rules and follow the beats. When I watch my lab partner play, I only focus on how slow the ball moves but not getting the fun part of the game. https://www.kongregate.com/games/fizzd/a-dance-of-fire-and-ice
