Final game prototype — Stop the Aliens

The background story of this game is a spaceship of aliens invaded into a human’s house. Players need to protect the house by attacking aliens with water balloons that kill aliens. The player controls the character with the arrow keys to move, and throws a water balloon(bullet) with the space key.When the player gets touched by aliens 5 times, the player dies, and the game restarts. The player cannot overpass the obstacles. When the player kills all aliens, the player wins. If the player killed all the aliens in one room, he can move to another room. There are four levels in the game, Level one is in the living room, level two is the kitchen, level three is the bedroom, and level four is the office.

I play the role of artist and producer. I designed the main characters, aliens, and most of the background and furnitures. The whole aesthetic style is like Stardew Valley from a side-top view. The house style is more modern rather than farm house. As the level progress, the difficulty increases too so the game has a nice balance of fun and challenge.

The game is not a promotion of violence, there is no blood or gun shot. The attacking format is throwing water balloons. After many rounds of testing, we adjusted the speed of character movement and amount of the aliens. The final prototype of this game include all the levels. We intentionally implement buttons and signs to guide the user explore the game more easily.
